Wormwood Revelation
bio: Brian

Brian was born and raised in SLO Town (San Luis Obispo, Ca.) but that hasn't slowed down his guitar playing.

At a young age, Brian's grandfather and his babysitter recognized his love of music and gave him some Motown and Beetle's records, which he played over and over. For many years, Brian perfected the art of air guitar until as a teen his mother encouraged him to save for a real guitar and lessons - which he did. He drove his mother nuts practicing for hours on end but it all paid off when he joined a rock band while still in high school. Brian got the opportunity to perform all up and down the California coast.

Brian then took a hiatus from performing to peruse a career as a chef and eventually started his own restaurant in the Pacific Northwest where he married his wife Linda. As his career became more manageable, Brian realized he was missing music in his life and at his friend's encouragement he started up a band. Since then he has immersed himself in music, writing and perfecting his playing every chance he gets.

In dedicating his life to honoring God through his music, he has found purpose and satisfaction in life.

September, ninth 2005

About two years ago, a friend of mine who owns HearHere Sound Services, Tom Brown, called me on the phone and asked, “are you ready?” Ready for what I asked? Again he asked “ are you ready?” So I thought to my self, o.k. I’ll bite. He said that he wanted me to start writing lyrics for a Christian album. Well I’ve been a musician/ guitar player for twenty-seven years and have been a Christian longer than that. I thought that this was a great opportunity so I started writing. I thought to myself, “ whom am I going to get to write the music?” I had met a man a few months earlier, through a mutual friend named John Jennings. I called him up and asked him for help. I presented him with dilemma and he agreed to help me. We started to write from scratch. I wrote the lyrics and he wrote the music. We ended up writing eight songs for the CD. Once we got the cd finished, we needed to get a band together to perform the new effort. John, my partner in crime and I did the whole thing ourselves with the help of Tom Brown the engineer.
Tom had a lot of big ideas about becoming a Christian band and wanted to start a ministry. I thought I could do that. I knew in my heart it wasn’t right for me. John and I decided to start a band. First we found Tom Taylor, an outstanding bass player. Then we found Bob Cruse, one of the best drummers I’ve ever played with. John sent Bob a copy of the CD and he learned it perfectly. The first time we all sat down to play, it sounded as if we had been playing together for years. After six practices, we were ready to play in public. We played first played the basement for the kids at the Lutheran church of the Redeemer. Our second appearance was at Four square church of Port Townsend for a youth New Years party.
Everything was going along just fine until we had our first band meeting. That’s when we decided that we were no longer going to be a Christian band. I could see right away that Tom Brown wad deeply hurt. I myself had mixed feelings. I wanted to write and play, but I couldn’t see myself preaching on stage, not in the conventional sense. I don’t know how pastors do it. A true, sincere pastor of a respectable church deserves a great deal of respect, for the job they do is a very difficult one. It carries a great deal of responsibility, something that I wasn’t ready for. The other guys had their own reasons for their decision. I’ve been sharing the word of the gospel for a long time. I figure God has different ways to get his point across and uses different people with different attributes to get his will done. He gave me my own way of doing it.
Bob Cruise left the band. He was driving up from Olympia Washington two days a week and the rest of us live in the Port Townsend area. The drive was too much for him and he was also starting up a new business. We all miss him and his capabilities and we wish him well on his endeavor.
Everything turned out fine. In the beginning, I was charged with writing a CD that would make people think and to give them a different perspective. With the style of music that I so much like to play, full tilt boogie in your face guitars, solid aggressive bass, with a distinct syncopated drum style. I wasn’t trying to make a bunch of Christians feel warm and fuzzy, it was to make regular folk think about their future. Not just the near future, but also the long time future. We all have to make important decisions in our lives. Where is it that you want to spend eternity?

It would suit us perfectly if we could give away for free, and we do offer free listens
but - cd sales support us and makes this possible,
so THANK YOU for listening to our songs and buying our cd's
